final update with added feedback

Image
After reflecting on the feedback given by both Julian and Veronika, I changed the style of the leaflet (pictured below) and the way it was presented. In the video, you can see what the leaflet looks like and below you can see screen shots of what the leaflet would look like when you hold your phone over the leaflet. final from Danielle Englezou on Vimeo .

Update regarding feedback

Today we presented our work to Julian and Veronica, we got good feedback but also many points to reflect on, based on design and scaling of the features that are imported through Wikitude. Furthermore, reflecting on this feedback, I have designed a new leaflet, with less of a bold take with the purples and also using an icon to communicate that you can use your phone for the interactive leaflet. indesign update from Danielle Englezou on Vimeo .

Working Project

This video contains the final project in working form, it shows how you scan your phone with the Wikitude app over the leaflet page and then you can see the information that is shown interactively, such as video links. For the final submission, I am going to print the final piece onto card and make the leaflet more look presentable as if it were to the client. Prototype for app

Image
This is a prototype of what the app would look like, I decided to make it look very similar to the actual leaflet that is provided in the hotels because it makes it more real. below are screen shots from a prototype I have built in photoshop, designing the icon that would appear if you downloaded the app and the front page when you first click on to the app. The following pages are the indesign pages so that you can view them from your phone.

User experience X2

User experience: John is a business man who uses the Premier Inn hotels on regular basis as they are perfect for him when away travelling on business as there are over 750 across the UK. John a perfect example of why this interactive leaflet would help increase his experience whilst staying at one of the hotel. When travelling for business, John hardly has time to make note of all the information which is provided whilst checking in, which is why the interactive leaflet comes in to place so well, during his stay at the hotel, he can take a look at the leaflet at his own pace, find out what information he needs when and where he wants too along with having that enhanced experience bringing it to life. Amy is a 12-year-old girl staying at the Premier Inn with her family. Her family have arrived in a large group and are staying at the hotel in Shoreditch high street for a number of days. When they arrived the check in desk was quite hectic as it’s a busy Saturday of Eas...

Feedback with Veronika and Colour Palettes

Image
Today I met up with Veronika and showed her the indesign document of the final leaflet, reflecting on the feedback given during this, I have decided to change the colour theme. We discussed how the dark purple colour isn’t breathable it makes the leaflet very constrophobic and less space. From this I have decided to change the overall colour to white, after taking inspiration from other hotel websites.  I also began to explore with the colours, creating and collecting palettes from Adobe Color challenge what colours could go with others in order to make certain information stand out. I also looked into leaflets from the hotel and as you can see in the images below, colours such as orange, blues and yellow work very well when trying to create this.

Representation on colour

Image
When deciding the colours that would be used for the interactive leaflet, it was for sure that purple would be used as it is such a staple to the franchise and recognisable within the brand as a whole. I looked into the meanings of colours and the colour which I want to use in particular, the images above are very good representations of each colour and help me within my design stages of what to use as to what I want my audience to take from it.

Permission to use branding

Image
We got in to contact with the Premier Inn in order to be allowed access to use their branding and take photos and videos for our project, my team went to Premier Inn in order to do so, and have got the written confirmation that the company are allowing us to work with them.

photos from inside hotel (edgware branch)

Image
These   photographs were taken in the  Edgware  branch on the Premier Inn hotel chain. We got in touch with this branch as they are a smaller, less busier branch than the London ones, so were able to offer us more of their time. They allowed us to go into the rooms, and look around the hotel in order to get a feel of the atmosphere and vibe created inside their hotels.

AR in hospitality apps

Image
Augmented reality is on the upcoming with more and more companies using it as a key aspect their marketing as its something which catches an audiences attention, its different and enhances the experience for the audience.  I looked into hospitality companies that offer an AR experience.   As AR is on the rise, there is not many companies out that that use it within their work but I managed to find that the Premier Inn have created a selection of hotels in prime locations across London and Edinburgh, offering smaller rooms cleverly designed to meet all your expectations and more. F or example, during your check in your room will automatically pair with the app (once downloaded on your phone) making you in control of your room, from dimming the lights to changing the temperature of your room all from your phone. This creates a unique experience, giving the customer a stay and experience of a lifetime, where everything is controlled from your phone, smart watch or iPad....

target audience

Target Audience : Families: Having a interactive way of communicating makes it more a fun/ stress free experience when it comes to families, especially if you have young children or a large family trying to get across so much information during checking in can be tricky. With this new app, you’ll have all information you need at your fingertips along with the  augumented  reality allowing you to see it with your own eyes. Children: You   can   never   predict how well a child small or big will behave upon arrival at a hotel, they could be tired due to travelling, that why with our app it can be used as a distraction to engage the child with something interactive whilst the parents are able to check in. It also holds all the information that you would be told upon arrival allowing the parents to read through once settled in their rooms. The app will have some sort of entertainment for children too. Couples: The  augumented  real...

Branding Comparison

Image
The Premier Inn is well established with its strong branding of purple as a trademark colour of their brand. I explored their branding across their website in order to look at what I could take as inspiration when it came to creating the interactive leaflet. The first thing I noticed when I went onto their website was their colouring technique. They use a white background to make it breathable, and clear for the reader. The soft blacks/grey they use for the wording so the text is not to strong on the eye. They had a strong purple banner which I have taken as inspiration as it allows a break between such a bold, block colour. Premier inn also used a lot of opposite colours such as oranges, yellows and blue, cleverly used on boxes which lead you to booking a room or choosing a location. This is appealing to the user as the bold colour catch their eye. I also looked into the Hub Hotel by Premier Inn app, the style of the design is a bright green on a ch...
